Hiha Pre and Primary School (Children’s home)

OVERVIEW

he Hiha Pre and Primary School (Children’s home) is a non-profit (NGO) in Makuyuni – Monduli  was founded in early 2010 by Peter Penuel, his wife Teresia Beneti and Juma Hussein Tanzanians, responding to the recognized need to provide care and shelter to an increasing population of orphaned children in the Makuyuni area. The Centre is a registered as Hiha Pre-Primary school and children’s home that provides education for orphans and poor children around Makuyuni – Monduli, Arusha in Tanzania.  The Hiha Children’s Home currently accommodates 40 children mostly between the ages of 3 and 14. Future plans are in place to care for about 100 children. The Hiha children’s home provides matron supervision, regular nutritious meals, clothing, as well as, school needs that include uniforms, books, materials and fees.

Values and Mission

n addition to providing long-term care, Hiha Children’s Home aims to better education for children and when possible  to equip them with the tools they need to be self-sustainable. Hiha Children’s Home is dedicated to creating a path for each child that leads to a future filled with hope.

Teresia Benet is the accountant who keeps itemized records of all donations and supplies maintains banking records creates and updates general and project expenditure

Juma Hussein is general manager. Juma is supervises all activities at Hiha children's home, oversees international communication and donor relations,

Challenges and Results

Buildings

Hiha children’s home and primary have managed to build 5 class rooms out of 10, two small room acting as dormitory with few beds which they sharing and some sleep on the floor dormitories for boys and girls that will fit the pupils we have also built temporary small office where Hiha children’s home and pre & primary school activities are being conducted which is not enough to cater for the school. Please support us.

Performance

Despite of the challenges of Hiha children’s home, academically, Hiha children’s home and pre & primary school has been performing well in the class for national examination where by we have been ranking top 10 in district level for the three consecutive years hoping to do more better than that not only in our district but national wide, through hard work we believe in that

The Project

Some challenges at Hiha children’s home and pre & primary school are as follows; we lack enough beds and mattress for the children, we have poor supply of water to the Hiha children’s home and pre & primary school where by we need to have our permanent water supply by drilling but an able due to funds.  We lack fence to prevent penetration of wild animals and passes by people through Hiha children’s home.  We lack enough 

playground for children although there is a room for expression. We lack dinning hall, kitchen as well as proper administration block. We also lacks tools and machines e.g. photocopies, computers, materials like books to these among other we lack school vans, all these among other things are needed for the smooth running of the school but we are still unable to raise them until now. Please support us.
